This work is the result of a year-long project documenting the Gypsy community of Bury Brick?elds, a council-run site near Southampton Water. In order to diffuse notions of typology I encouraged my subjects to approach the camera on their own terms. Along with portraits more metaphorical images were made that, whilst having a poetic quality, avoid sentiment or romance. Fully aware that the only 'truth' I can offer comes from my perception and experience, I have attempted to infuse the images with the dignity of the unique and distinct culture I encountered.

Time Based Art
In spite of the strict regime and through his own persistence, he was allowed to buy art materials with the assistance of the British Consul in Shanghai. A key demand of the regime was that prisoners acknowledge their own guilt and the perniciousness of their crimes in writing on a monthly basis. In Time Based Art, Lauchlan will exhibit a wide variety of oil paintings with subjects as diverse as landscapes and still lifes, to torture and incarceration. All works were made during his time in Shanghai Qing Pu Prison. The money raised from the sale of the paintings will go towards MOJO's campaign to raise £500, 000 to build a retreat for innocent men and women.
